How Wallos works

Wallos creates a catalogue of recurring subscriptions and payments. Each record can include its name, category, amount, billing cycle, currency, payment method, renewal date, notes, and other details. Dashboard totals, charts, calendars, category views, and statistics help a user understand what is due and how recurring costs are distributed.

Multiple currencies can be recorded, and optional Fixer integration can convert values into a main currency. Notifications and import or export tools may support the surrounding workflow, but every entry still depends on user-supplied information. Wallos does not inspect bank transactions, confirm that a merchant charged the expected amount, or cancel a service automatically.

Key Wallos features

The catalogue keeps Wallos data in /var/www/html/db and leaves registration open until the first account is created. An authorised user should claim the installation before the URL is shared. Subscription information can reveal spending habits and account relationships, so access, exports, backups, and any notification tokens should be treated as sensitive financial records.

Application email is disabled across the hosting service services. As a result, email reminders or recovery flows should not be assumed to work, and any supported third-party notification channel requires credentials supplied by the operator. Currency conversion also needs a separate Fixer API account and may be affected by provider quotas, rate coverage, delays, or changes.

Wallos vs Rocket Money

Wallos is a self-hosted subscription ledger based on entries maintained by the user. Rocket Money is a provider-managed personal finance service that can link financial accounts, identify recurring charges, analyse spending, support budgets and net-worth views, and offer subscription cancellation or other human-assisted services through its product tiers.

Rocket Money may suit people who want account aggregation, automatic detection, native applications, and a provider-assisted cancellation workflow. Wallos fits users who prefer to keep a manually curated subscription list on their own server. It does not connect to banks, negotiate bills, monitor credit, move money, or cancel merchants.

Who uses Wallos

Individuals can review household subscriptions, freelancers can track software renewals, and small teams can maintain a list of recurring online services when a full procurement system would be excessive. Multi-currency support can help people whose subscriptions are billed in several regions.

Wallos is not accounting software, a bank feed, investment tool, cancellation agent, payment processor, or source of financial advice. Users must verify amounts and dates against merchant records, keep cancellation evidence separately, and decide how long financial history and API credentials should remain in the service.

Self-hosting Wallos: requirements and cost

Wallos resource use depends on subscription count, users, dashboard queries, charts, imports, exports, notification checks, and currency conversions. PostgreSQL and MariaDB are Not required by the catalogue template; local state is persisted in /var/www/html/db. The software has no separate application charge, and a personal subscription list usually places modest demands on storage.

On AvaHost, Wallos uses Plan 1 at €2. The hosted Wallos package includes one-click deployment, a custom domain with automated HTTPS, automatic application updates, and scheduled backups. Create the first account before sharing the address and protect all subscription records and exports.
