Data center

All dedicated equipment is housed in the AvaHost data center in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova.

Location

The stable and high-performance operation of our server equipment, as well as its security and uninterrupted availability, is guaranteed by its placement in a specialized data center. Our data center is located in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, in a unique and secure facility – a former bomb shelter of a military factory. Situated 5 meters underground, this location ensures the utmost security for our servers and the confidential data they store and process.

By utilizing this underground facility, we offer our clients the highest level of protection for their valuable information. The robust physical infrastructure and strict security measures implemented in the data center provide a secure environment for our server equipment. This includes safeguarding against potential physical threats, such as unauthorized access, natural disasters, and other external risks.

The data center was established and became operational in 2001, boasting impressive specifications including:

  • A robust communication channel of 50 Gbit/s, ensuring reliable and high-speed connectivity.
  • Power consumption capacity of 1.6 MW, ensuring sufficient power supply for optimal server performance.
  • Effective protection against DDoS attacks, capable of handling up to 500 Gbit/s, safeguarding the servers and preventing disruptions caused by malicious activities.

Stable power supply
Two independent substations provide a reliable power feed. An automatic transfer switch (ATS) allows smooth switching between inlets. Feeder capacity is 1.6 MW. An SDMO diesel generator and UPS provide uninterrupted power.

Users benefit from three independent 10 Gbps uplinks from different providers. Total channel width is 30 Gbps, with the option to expand for major clients.

The data center uses Cat6 cabling, properly terminated and tested, with Cisco equipment for intranet routing.

Efficient cooling
Temperature is held between +24 and +27 °C. Cooling follows an N+1 scheme for redundancy. Annual average PUE is 1.2.

High-level security
The building is protected and monitored by two specialized security agencies. CCTV covers the entire facility, and the perimeter is closely guarded.

Advanced DDoS protection
The data center has an advanced DDoS mitigation system, with capacity up to 1 Tbps. Voxility, a trusted AvaHost partner, protects user data. A direct optical link to Romania is also available via Voxility's data-center deployment.
