How Maloja works
Maloja receives scrobbles from compatible players or clients and stores each listening event in a personal database. The interface turns that history into charts, time-based statistics, artist and track views, listening patterns, and manually corrected metadata. An API key lets authorised clients submit new events.
Compatibility endpoints can accept formats used by ListenBrainz or GNU FM clients, while the native API supports Maloja-specific integrations. Existing history can be imported from official Spotify or ListenBrainz exports, a Last.fm export in a supported format, or another Maloja instance. Manual scrobbling is available when a player cannot report directly.

The catalogue records PostgreSQL and MariaDB as Not required; the persistent Maloja data directory contains the history and configuration that must remain protected together. Maloja is storage-driven, so 50 GB on Plan 3 is a realistic starting point and 100 GB on Plan 4 better suits a large library.
On AvaHost, Maloja uses Plan 1 at €2. The hosted Maloja package includes one-click deployment, a custom domain with automated HTTPS, automatic application updates, and scheduled backups. The catalogue deployment supplies a generated administrator password, and Maloja exposes an API key from its settings for compatible players. Music subscriptions, audio files, scrobbling clients, player configuration, and optional image-provider credentials are not included.
