How NocoDB works
NocoDB organises information into bases, tables, fields, relationships, and records. Teams can create data inside the application or connect supported external databases, then work through spreadsheet-style grids and alternative views such as forms, galleries, kanban boards, calendars, timelines, lists, and maps where available. Each view keeps its own filters, sorting, and field visibility.
Collaboration features allow administrators to invite users and assign permissions at workspace, base, table, or field level. Public links and embeds can expose selected views, while APIs support permitted integrations. A no-code interface still depends on sound data modelling, access design, validation, and careful handling of external database credentials.
Key NocoDB features
NocoDB is useful when business users need a familiar way to edit structured data. Multiple view types, forms, attachments, relationships, formulas, sharing, roles, and APIs can replace small internal spreadsheets or ad hoc CRUD tools. Complex workflows may still require external services or custom logic.
The catalogue deploys only the NocoDB application and records PostgreSQL and MariaDB as Not required. It does not provide a target business database. Connecting an existing PostgreSQL or MySQL system requires a reachable customer-supplied service and credentials.
